PostSubject: CAMHS...   14/6/2007, 3:45 am

Got an appointment with CAHMS at midday today, to discuss C's behaviour and how it can be managed.

My mum is coiming with me affraid so she can get a better idea of C's PDA, as she has a tendancy to pass C's behaviour off as "that's what kids do", and she can't get her head around the fact that C won't grow out of it....

Boy, I can't wait..... hmm

Oh, Misty! I thought I was the only one!

She even tried it today, but the Clinical Physc told her that with C it's definately a step further. I've been telling her that for months!! cursing

Anyway, it all went OK, she said that we are "pioneers" as us parents are the first generation to have to deal with PDA as a recognised condition. I felt a bit like Captain Kirk boldly going forth....but only briefly!!!! Laughing

Sometimes family members don't want to see what's under their noses cos it's too painful but once they accept it & get to grips with it then hopefully it's forward and on with complete understanding of all the 'different' behaviours.

I quite agree that you are all pioneer parents & that is why you have so many fights on your hands to get the help you all need.

Let's remember Mrs Panchurst & her fight to get women the right to vote!!!

All of us can only take small steps forward all the time but we are forcing doors open for generations behind us.

Keep stepping forward!!! xx

Didn't she chain herself to a racehorse or something Grandma? lol!

My mum will sit down and think it all through. It's what she does. She's seen C at her worst and there must be a part of her that realises it isn't "normal" (ugh!!) but I think you are spot on with your comment that she doesn't want to see it as she's too close.

There will be about 8 sessions altogether, so we'll see what comes of it.
